Atlas 1813-1 Conrail MP-15DC Diesel Switcher #9624 w/TMCC

I loved the UP MP-15 below so much that I had to get another one. This Conrail unit is just as lovely as the UP. Amazingly detailed and, just like the UP below, has the best slow speed I've ever seen in an engine. What makes these switchers even more special is that Atlas went to the trouble of making subtle changes to each unit depending on what road it is. For example, the horn on this unit is in a different spot than the horn on the UP switcher below. Other units feature an angled air filter on the hood instead of the square air filters featured on this engine and one below. This sort of attention to detail is what makes Atlas the best in the business. You can check out a video of this engine in action right here. Made in 2008, added to my collection in January of 2009.

MTH 20-2711-1 Conrail SD70Mac Diesel Engine w/Proto-Sound 2.0

One of the last pieces of my 2006 catalog order to come in. I really like to paint job on this piece. Looks and sounds incredible! I especially like the idling sound. It's sorta hypnotic. You can check out a video of this engine in action right here. This is a 2006 model, added to my set in April of 2007.

MTH 20-2711-3 Conrail SD70Mac Diesel Engine (Non-Powered)

The non-powered version of the SD70Mac above. This is a 2006 model, added to my set in April of 2007.

MTH 20-2947-1 Conrail Dash 8-40C Narrow Nose #6026 w/Proto-Sound 2.0

From the 2009 vol. 2 catalog, a very nice looking engine. I've heavily weathered the engine since I bought it. Built in 2009, added to my set in August 2010.

Lionel 6-38805 Conrail Scale Trackmobile

Love these little gems. Very detailed and equipped with command control. Made in 2012, added to my collection in August of 2012.

Lionel 6-81094 Conrail "Big Blue" 86' Hi-Cube Boxcar Set w/SD70MAC #4133

This is a great set and the hi-cube box cars are awesome. Built in 2014, added to my collection in June of 2015

Lionel 6-82282 Conrail SD40 Diesel #6308

Cataloged in 2016, added to my collection in May of 2016.

Lionel 6-82284 Conrail SD40 Diesel #6300

Cataloged in 2016, added to my collection in May of 2016.

Lionel 6-82796 Conrail SD38 #6935

Made in 2015, added to my collection in May of 2018.

MTH 20-90321 6-Car Conrail Coalporter Hopper Car Set

This set was part of my 2006 vol. 2 order from MTH. These are intricately detailed and look so great with all 6 cars lined up. I'm now pretty much limiting my freight purchases to matched sets whenever possible, so this is a part of that strategy. These were made in 2006 and added to my set in March of 2007. Car Numbers: 507271, 507283, 507284, 507276, 507280, 507278

MTH 20-93336 Conrail 50' Waffle Box Car #223110

I bought this car and the one below off of ebay. Although the seller has listed them as being in "like new" condition, when I received them I found that the roofs of both cars had recently been repainted silver instead of the white that the cars came with. I was a little upset that the seller misled me about them, but seeing as I was about the weather both of these cars, I didn't get too bent out of shape. They looks pretty nice now that they are fully weathered. Made in 2006, added to my set in April of 2008.

MTH 20-93336 Conrail 50' Waffle Box Car #223113

Just like the boxcar above, but with a different road number. Made in 2006, added to my set in April of 2008

MTH 20-94058 Conrail 40' Reefer Car

I've since weathered this car. This is a 2003 model, added to my set in March of 2006.

MTH 30-79045 Conrail Hopper Car w/Operating Coal Load

I got this while on a Conrail kick. It's a nice looking car and the animated coal load is pretty sweet. This is a 2003 car, added to my set in March of 2006

MTH 30-7926 Conrail Searchlight Car

This car is very cool. It looks a lot like the old Lionel searchlight car, except that MTH has improved the light mechanism. It's basically outfitted with the same rotating motor found on MTH's remake of Lionel's 394 Rotary Beacon. When the track is energized, the light comes on and spins around continuously. When I first got this car, I was a little peeved that the car did not have a switch on the underside for turning the search light off when it's not in use. However, on closer inspection I found that the car does, in fact, have a switch that is appropriately placed on the little plastic generator on the top of the car! This is a 1999 model, added to my set in March of 2006.

Lionel 6-27892 Conrail PS5 Gondola w/Covers #612690

I've weathered this gondola, I think it turned out pretty good. Made in 2011, added to my collection in February of 2012.

Lionel 6-28409 Conrail Rail Bonder

I picked this up on ebay for $32. Apparently, a rail bonder welds the rails on the roads. At any rate, it's nice little piece and will help add realism on the layout. This was made in 2006 and added to my collection in January of 2007.

Atlas 6321-1 Conrail 3 Bay Cylindrical Hopper #884812

I loved the CSX cylindrical hoppers from Atlas so much that I snatched up the Conrail version as well. For some reason, Atlas only makes 2 numbers when it comes to these hoppers, which is unfortunate since they are so awesome. Fortunately, though, I have both numbers. Built in 2007, added to my set in June of 2007.

Atlas 6321-2 Conrail 3 Bay Cylindrical Hopper #885217

Just like the Conrail hopper above, but with a different car number. Built in 2007, added to my set in June of 2007.

Atlas 8621-5 Conrail Berwick Hy-Cube Box Car #223301

These Hy-Cube box cars are gigantic and amazingly detailed. My only criticism is that the doors on these cars don't open. Made in 2009. Added to my collection in June of 2009.

Atlas 8621-6 Conrail Berwick Hy-Cube Box Car #223305

Made in 2009. Added to my collection in June of 2009.

Atlas 8621-7 Conrail Berwick Hy-Cube Box Car #223313

Made in 2009. Added to my collection in June of 2009.

Atlas 8621-8 Conrail Berwick Hy-Cube Box Car #223329

Made in 2009. Added to my collection in June of 2009.

Atlas 8912-2 Conrail #795103 Gunderson Stack Car A-B Set

My 3rd Gunderson Stack set from Atlas. These are simply amazing. Made in 2007, added to my set in December 2007.

Weaver G24013 Conrail H30 Hopper Car #74008

These were part of the last batch of cars I was able to order from Weaver before they shut their doors in mid-2015. Made in 2015, added to my collection in July of 2015.

Weaver G24013 Conrail H30 Hopper Car #74009

These were part of the last batch of cars I was able to order from Weaver before they shut their doors in mid-2015. Made in 2015, added to my collection in July of 2015.

Weaver Weaver Ultra Line Conrail #171039 Boxcar (model number not known)

This was the first Weaver car that I got. Not knowing much about Weaver at the time, I actually bought a 2-rail car instead of 3-rail. I took off the plastic wheels and added Lionel die-cast sprung trucks. I've since Weathered this car. It was one of first weathering jobs, so I'm sure it's not as well done as future cars will be. Nevertheless, I think I did a pretty good job on it.
